Dubuque Drug Dealer Gets Prison Time

A Dubuque man, who pleaded guilty to selling nearly 80 grams of heroin in Cedar Rapids last year, has been sentenced to federal prison. 33 year old Marcus Long pled guilty in federal court in Cedar Rapids to one count of use of a communications facility to commit a felony drug crime. In April of last year, Cedar Rapids first responders were called to a home to investigate a disturbance. When they arrived they found one person dead from a suspected drug overdose and another who had overdosed, but later woke up. Police on scene were able to find a phone number of the person who had sold the heroin to the two who overdosed. Officers called the number, which belonged to Long, and set up a buy. Long was arrested just prior to the transaction. He was sentenced to more than three years in prison. He will also be placed on probation once he gets out.
