Dubuque Called “Can’t Miss” on ‘Saturday Night Live’

The Key City was mentioned…positively…on this weekend’s edition of a long-running sketch comedy show. Dubuque was one of the cities mentioned during the ‘Weekend Update’ segment of this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live.” The mention came during a bit where cast member Aidy Bryant was playing a 7th grade “travel expert,” whose advice largely revolved around her own family’s travels. But she did have good things to say about Dubuque during her discussion with ‘Update’ anchor Michael Che, even if she initially fumbled the pronunciation of the city’s name. This is not Dubuque’s first connection to “Saturday Night Live.” Former Hempstead student Brooks Whelan was a member of the show’s cast during the season that ran from 2013 into 2014.
