DNR Scam Warning

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is urging the public to beware of online hunting and fishing license scams leaving purchasers with an empty hook and wallet. Kimberly Currie, DNR director of customer and outreach services, says various websites are trying to deceive people. These sites also collect sensitive personal data as part of their unauthorized transactions. Currie says the best way to make sure you don’t fall prey to these scammers is to purchase your license directly from the DNR. The official website is dnr.wi.gov. Wisconsin also has many service centers across the state if you don’t want to go online. Currie says paying close attention can help you figure out if you are on a scammers website. The DNR website also provides information about where to purchase licenses in person, links to free copies of Wisconsin regulations and helpful tutorials on the DNR website under Licenses and Regulations.
