Del Toro Running Again

Incumbent Dubuque city councilman Luis Del Toro has filed the necessary paperwork to run for a second term in office. Del Toro, who represents the second ward, is the fourth person to filed papers to run for a seat on the council. So far, former Black Hills employee Laura Roussell is the only one who has filed paperwork to run in the second ward. There are two other open seats on the council this fall. Incumbent at-large councilman David Resnick has filed for re-election, while incumbent fourth ward representative Jake Rios made the decision earlier to not seek a second term. At least one person has filed to run for Rios’ seat. Brad Cavanaugh filed papers last month. Two others, Jay Schiesl and Nino Erba have said they will run for the fourth ward seat, but so far they haven’t filed the paperwork. The filing deadline is August 29th, and the election is November 5th.
