The Dubuque County Board of Supervisors will meet this morning at 10 am to consider a county-wide mask mandate, following recommendations from the board of health. But 14 Mayors in the county are opposed to a mandate. One of those is Epworth Mayor Sandy Gassman. Gassman says it’s practically impossible to enforce a mask mandate in her community. She says in Epworth, other safety guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 make more sense. Supervisor Jay Wickham says even though the board welcomes the debate on the mandate issue, they still have a job to do. According to County Attorney C.J. May, the supervisors have three options. They can adopt the resolution and the mandate would go into effect, they can revise the resolution, or they can ignore or reject the resolution.
