Darlington Man Texas Charges

A Darlington man who lied to the Darlington Police Department about his identity is facing charges and is also in trouble in Texas. 26-year old Melvin Ramos-Gonzales was arrested on Saturday at 8:51 am for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license after he passed an unmarked police car in a no passing zone on Galena Street. Ramos-Gonzales had originally given officers a different name, but Darlington Police learned he is wanted by Texas authorities for assault under his real name. As a result of the lie, Ramos-Gonzales has been charged with obstructing an officer and he remains jailed.  U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a detainer on him and will be coming to take custody of him.
