Dangerously Cold Weather Settling in to Tri-States

One of the coldest stretches in recent memory is about to settle into the Tri-State area. The air temperature here in Dubuque has now fallen below zero, and is not expected to reach a positive reading again until Friday morning. Air temperatures both tonight and tomorrow will fall to around -30. Add to that a stiff northwesterly breeze and wind chill readings will drop down to about -55, according to KCRG Chief Meteorologist Joe Winters. A Wind Chill Warning will go into effect this afternoon, and will stick around into Thursday afternoon. At the temperatures expected, exposed skin can begin experiencing frostbite in just five minutes. There is some relief on the way. High temperatures are expected to reach into the 30s above zero on Saturday through next Monday.
