Wigginton, Shayok lead Iowa State over Oklahoma State 69-63
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) – Lindell Wigginton, playing just his second game since missing 10 with a foot injury, scored 17 points and had eight rebounds to help lead Iowa State to a 69-63 victory over Oklahoma State Wednesday night in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams.
Marial Shayok scored 17 points, while also chipping in six rebounds, for Iowa State (11-2, 1-0), while Nick Weiler-Babb had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. The Cyclones won their fourth straight.
UP NEXT: The Cyclones have a tough challenge as they return home to take on No. 5 Kansas on Saturday afternoon.
Northern Iowa downs Bradley 65-47 in MVC opener
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) – Trae Berhow scored 14 points with four 3-pointers and grabbed seven rebounds and Northern Iowa beat Bradley 65-47 in Wednesday night’s Missouri Valley Conference opener.
Isaiah Brown also scored 14 points and AJ Green added 10 points and made four assists for the Panthers (6-8), who held Bradley to 38-percent shooting and are now 32-30 all-time against the Braves. Former Senior prep Luke McDonnel lrecorded four assists on the night while shooting three of five from the field for eight points and hauling in four offensive rebounds. Former Western Dubuque prep Spencer Haldeman had 5 points 3 assists.The Panthers now get the Salukis of Southern Illinois on Saturday, January 5.
