Cuba City COVID-19 Response Program

Although the Wisconsin Supreme Court has struck down Governor Tony Evers’ stay-at-home restrictions, a lot of Wisconsinites, especially seniors, are choosing to continue to stay at home until the Governor’s order expires on May 26th. Cuba City recently adapted a regional program to ensure the safety of its’ residents. The “Cuba Cares” program assist people who need things, but don’t want to venture outdoors. Two cards were sent out to community members, one green and one yellow. The city asked people to place one of the cards in a visible place in their homes, so that someone driving by can see it. The green card indicates that the household is doing well and doesn’t need anything right now, while the yellow card indicates that household needs some assistance. Bob Jones, Economic Development Director for Cuba City, says volunteers are on the lookout for homes displaying a yellow card, and are reaching out to assist in any way they can. He ask that everyone to be on the lookout for homes displaying a yellow card. The program is not meant to be used for medical or police emergencies. If you have an emergency, call 911.
