Council Code of Conduct

The Dubuque City Council conducted a Governance Session on Sunday to review team building; strategic planning; roles and responsibilities and expectations for elected officials. At-large Councilman, Ric Jones, says the session was facilitated by Sumek Associates. The Code of Conduct agreed to Sunday has 12 operating guidelines. Examples include respecting others ideas and comments, criticizing an idea not a fellow council member, and obeying the rules and laws of the city. It will still have to be voted on as an ordinance at a regular City Council meeting. Once the City Council votes on their regular meeting time change, they will meet at 6:30 pm rather than the current 6 pm start. Jones says the main reason is to allow more time for pre-meeting work sessions.
