Cedar Cross Road Reopens After Crash Closes A Portion For Nearly 7 Hours

A well-traveled street in Dubuque is back open after a crash involving a truck closed the road for nearly 7 hours yesterday. According to a crash report a truck driven by 35 year old Matthew Ryan of Dubuque was traveling south on Cedar Cross Road when he claimed his hand slipped off the steering wheel. Ryan lost control and the truck struck a utility pole near Lake Ridge Drive. The impact snapped the pole, sending live electrical wires over the truck and the road. Ryan and his passenger were not injured but were told to stay inside the vehicle until crews from Alliant Energy could address the situation. Cedar Cross Road was closed from the 700 block to Nighingale. It took crews nearly 7 hours to clean up the scene and restore power to the affected area. The crash caused more than 37-thousand dollars in damage. Ryan was cited for failure to maintain control. Cedar Cross Road was reopened at around 4 pm.
