Cascade High School Principal Expected to Retire
Dubuque County’s longest-serving high school principal appears ready for retirement. Greg Vander Lugt has been the principal at Cascade High School for the past 20 years. The Western Dubuque school board is scheduled to consider his resignation at their meeting tonight. If it’s approved, Vander Lugt would step down at the end of the current school year. District officials would also immediately begin the search for Vander Lugt’s replacement, who would take over at the beginning of next school year. Vander Lugt came to Cascade High School in the fall of 1999 and provided needed stability to the school’s top administrative position. Prior to his arrival, Cascade had gone through four principals in two school years.
