Braves, Dodgers go up 2-1…OSU catches Georgia in poll…Larson wins at Dover…Na hangs on in Vegas

ST. LOUIS (AP) – The Atlanta Braves have taken a two-games-to-one lead in their NL Division Series by scoring three times with two out in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Cardinals, 3-1 in St. Louis. Carlos Martinez was one out from recording the save until Dansby Swanson tied it with an RBI double and scored on Adam Duvall’s two-run single. The Redbirds wasted a terrific outing by Adam Wainwright, who held the Braves to four hits over 7 2/3 shutout innings.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Los Angeles Dodgers have grabbed a 2-1 lead in their NL Division Series by erupting for seven runs in the sixth inning of a 10-4 rout of the Nationals in Washington. Russell Martin and Kike Hernandez provided two-run doubles in the sixth before Justin Turner’s three-run blast capped the rally. Martin also belted a two-run homer, Max Muncy (MUHN’-see) hit a solo shot and Hyun-Jin Ryu allowed four hits over five innings to get the win.

DOVER, Del. (AP) – Kyle Larson has advanced to the next round of NASCAR’s Cup playoff by taking Sunday’s race at Dover International Speedway. Larson snapped a 75-race winless streak that included nine runner-up finishes since September 2017 in Richmond. He led 154 laps after pole-sitter Denny Hamlin began to fade. Hamlin led 219 laps. NASCAR playoff drivers took the top six spots: Martin Truex Jr. finished second, followed by Alex Bowman, Kevin Harvick, Hamlin and Kyle Busch.

UNDATED (AP) – Ohio State and Georgia are tied at No. 3 in The Associated Press college football poll, with Florida moving up three spots to seventh after Saturday’s impressive victory over Auburn. No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Clemson held their spots following a bye week for both. LSU stays at No. 5, just ahead of Oklahoma. The Gators are followed by Wisconsin is ranked 8th, Notre Dame and Penn State. Iowa following their first loss of the season dropped to 17th.

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Kevin Na blew a three-shot lead on the back nine before recovering to win the PGA’s Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas. Na triple-bogeyed the 10th home and lost the lead for the first time Sunday with a bogey on 16, but he won it when Patrick Cantlay three-putted the second extra hole. Na closed with a 70 for a 23-under total.
