Board Approves Return-To-Learn Plans

As expected the Dubuque School Board approved its’ “Return-To-Learn” plans Monday night as the district prepares to get students back into a learning environment over the next couple of months. The plans call for amending the 2020-2021 school calendar. The original calendar called for the first day of school to begin on August 24th. But classes will now start 10 days earlier on August 14th. District superintendent Stan Rheingans. He says the plans allow the district to have three required options available for students. They are fully-in person education, fully remote, or hybrid delivery, which is a combination of in-person and remote education.  Orientation for students in Pre-K through 5th and 6th through 9th will be held on August 13th, with all students back on the 14th. An amended school calendar for Western Dubuque would add 11 days to the calendar for next school year. Holy Family is currently working on plans that have not yet been finalized.
