Board Approves Budget For Senior Phase 2

The Dubuque Community School Board has approved a budget of around 33.9 million for phase 2 of renovations at Senior High School. That price tag is about 1.2 million more than what architectural fire Straka-Johnson estimated a few months ago. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Superintendent Stan Rheingans says they have the funds to do the project, and once the work is done, Senior, like Hempstead, will be completely renovated.  Board member Jim Prochaska says the renovations will be extensive. There will also be improvements made to the industrial tech area at the high school. The board also approved an amendment to the agreement with Straka-Johnson for the  project for around $408,000. The project will go out for bids early next year.
