At least 35 calves were killed in a barn fire on a farm in New Vienna early Wednesday morning. Crews from the New Vienna and Luxemburg fire departments responded to the Mark McAllister farm in the 2700 block of North Bankston Road at around 3:40 am. The barn was fully engulfed when they arrived on scene. Crews were able to bring the blaze under controlled and remained on scene until around 10 am. The barn and all of its’ contents were destroyed. No damage estimate was available and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
