Barn Fire Causes $200,000 in Damage Near Sherrill

A Christmas Day barn fire north of Dubuque is believed to have caused several hundred dollars in damage. A little after 1:30 yesterday afternoon, firefighters from the Sherrill and Asbury departments were called to a farm on Bumpster Road, about a mile east of Sherrill. A release from the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department says the fire was contained to a barn on the property. But the barn, as well as some equipment and livestock that were inside, is considered a total loss. Investigators have estimated the damage at about $200,000. The cause of the fire is unknown, though the sheriff’s department does not consider it suspicious.
