Bacon Chili Cheese Dog Sliders
1 pkg. natural casing hot dogs
2 pkgs. junior buns (or Hawaiian buns, 24 total buns)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups Cremer’s chili (or 1 15 oz. can chili)
1 small yellow onion, chopped
2 tablespoon butter, melted
6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Preheat oven to 375-degrees F.
Slice hot dogs in half lengthwise, then cut in half or thirds, whichever fits your buns better. In a large skillet, over medium heat, cook hot dogs for a few minutes on each side. Remove to a plate to cool.
Line a 9 x 13” baking sheet with parchment paper. Place bottoms of junior buns in bottom of baking pan. Cover with 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Top with the cooked hot dogs. Cover the hot dogs with chili, then top with onions, crumbled bacon and the remaining cheese, then the top of the buns. Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and then sprinkle with some of the Parmesan cheese.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and remove the foil and return to oven and bake an additional 5-7 minutes, until the buns are lightly browned. Let cool 10 minutes before serving.
