Asbury Man Charged In High Speed Chase

An Asbury man faces numerous charges stemming from a high speed chase last month that involved three law enforcement agencies in Iowa and Illinois. Online court records say 24 year old Austine Thomas was arrested Monday afternoon at his home in Asbury. Thomas is charged with eluding and interference with official acts. He was also issued several traffic citations. Records say an Asbury officer attempted to stop Thomas, who was believed to be driving while barred at the time. Thomas ignored the flashing lights and siren and sped away reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph. Dubuque police then tried to stop his vehicle at Dodge and Hill Street, but it continued on into East Dubuque, where officers were able to stop Thomas and take him into custody. In Jo Daviess County Thomas faces a felony fleeing charge. He will answer to that charge in circuit court on October 9th.
