Archbishop Responds To Coronavirus

In an effort to “flatten the  curve” and lessen the burden on the local healthcare system, Dubuque Archbishop Michael Jackels says beginning Thursday, all public celebrations of Holy Mass have been cancelled until further notice. The Chrism Mass will be celebrated, but only with liturgical ministers present and the oils will be blessed, bottled and distributed in some way to the parishes. Also during this time, the Archbishop will live-stream a celebration of Holy Mass each Sunday if the situation hasn’t changed by then and will lead the Rosary each week on Thursday. In addition the existing schedule for Confirmation is cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later time. Funerals, weddings and baptisms may be held, but limited to the immediate family, or at least no more than 10 people present. And all archdiocesan sponsored events where 10 people or more are gathered have been canceled.
