Aldi Fire

An early morning fire Tuesday at 2160 Holliday Drive in Asbury has left a grocery store damaged. Aldi sustained damage from the blaze that was called in around 3 am. On arrival the first crew of the Dubuque Fire Department found the building full of smoke. Crews forced entry and extinguished a fire in a display freezer on the sales floor. One sprinkler head activated during the fire and the fire damage was contained to the appliance and one other freezer, however smoke permeated the store. The cause of the fire is under investigation but appears to have originated in the freezer mechanism from a malfunction. No injuries reported and property damage is minimal. Health department representatives will be working with Aldi to determine damages to contents.
