2020 Winter Arts Snow Sculpting Festival

The 2020 Winter Arts Snow Sculpting Festival will be held on Saturday, from noon to 4 p.m. at Washington Park. The City of Dubuque’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs and the Dubuque Museum of Art are partnering to present the free snow sculpting festival/competition. It will feature three professional teams and three student teams representing two local colleges – Clarke University and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville – will also participate. The community snow sculpting portion of the event offers community teams or individuals access to a number of designated blocks. Tools will be provided. The Dubuque Museum of Art will offer free admission and tours of the current exhibits during the event. The Glab Family Art Studio will be open with lots of hands-on activities for all ages. Hot beverages and food will be available for purchase on site. Sculpting will take place Wednesday through noon on Saturday, with 5 teams working day and night to turn blocks of 288 cubic feet of snow into masterful works of art. The winning team will have the opportunity to represent the state at the 2021 U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition in Lake Geneva, WI. The public is invited to observe the sculptors as they work throughout the week and to celebrate the completed sculptures on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 12-4 pm in the park.
