Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory, Warning for Weekend

The National Weather Service is warning those in the Tri-States to take precautions ahead of expected heat and humidity this weekend. The weather service has issued a Heat Advisory for much of our region, though the northern portion of our listening area will be under an Excessive Heat Warning. The Heat Advisory will go into effect at 10:00 tomorrow morning until 7:00 Saturday evening. Temperatures in the Dubuque area will reach into the 90s both Friday and Saturday, with humidity levels getting to what the weather service describes as an “oppressive” level. That will create heat index readings of close to 110 degrees. The Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect for both Clayton and Grant counties. It will be in effect from noon to 7:00 PM tomorrow, before giving way to the Heat Advisory. Within the warning area, the weather service says heat-related illness can set in after only a half hour of exposure.
