Warm May Follows Coldest April

One of the warmest Mays on record has followed the coldest April Dubuque ever had. That’s according to data compiled by the National Weather Service. As we told you last month, this April was Dubuque’s coldest on record, with the temperature averaging just 38.8 degrees. In May, the average temperature jumped to 66.2 degrees, which is about 7.5 degrees above normal. That makes May of 2018 the 7th warmest May ever for Dubuque. One record high temperature was set in Dubuque in May. That was last Sunday, when the high climbed all the way up to 95 degrees. In addition to being far warmer than usual, May was also wetter than normal. Dubuque received just under 5.5 inches of rainfall in the month, which is about an inch and a quarter more than usual.
