UConn Women 1st overall seed-Iowa Heads To L.A.

NEW YORK (AP) – Connecticut has been given the first overall seed in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament as the Huskies go for their 12th national championship. The 32-0 Huskies enter the NCAA Tournament as the lone unbeaten team and went wire-to-wire as the unanimous top team.

Last season, UConn came into the NCAAs as the overwhelming favorite before losing to Mississippi State in the Final Four.

Notre Dame, Louisville and Mississippi State are the other No. 1 seeds.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are a number six seed and will travel to Los Angeles and meet 11th seed Creighton on Saturday at Pauley Pavilion. This is the 25th trip to the tournament for an Iowa women’s teamThe Drake women are also in the Big Dance and the Bulldogs will face Texas A&M in the first round at 1:30 p.m. Friday in College Station, Texas.

The UNI women are in the WNIT tournament and they will host UW-Milwaukee Thursday at the McLeod Center.
