Taco Casserole

Taco Casserole 

2 lbs. Cremer’s lean ground beef

2 (15 oz.) cans chili beans

1 medium onion, chopped

2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce

1/3 cup taco sauce

1 pkg. Taco seasoning

3 tomatoes, chopped

4 cups tortilla chips

2 cups sour cream

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Shredded lettuce, taco sauce, and chopped tomatoes for garnish 

Heat oven to 350-degrees F. 

In a large pot, cook and drain beef.  Stir in beans, onion, tomato sauce, taco sauce, and taco seasoning.  Heat to boiling.  Remove from heat.  Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.  Cover the bottom of the dish with some of the semi-crushed chips.  Top with beef mixture.  Spread with sour cream.  Sprinkle with some of the chopped tomatoes and cheese.  Bake, uncovered, 20-30 minutes or until hot.  Scatter additional chips over the top of casserole.  Serve topped with shredded lettuce, taco sauce, and remaining chopped tomatoes.
