UNDATED (AP) Derrick Rose and the Minnesota Timberwolves will be counting on one another next season. The 2011 NBA MVP has agreed to a one-year deal worth nearly $2.4 million to stay with Minnesota, a person with knowledge of the negotiations said early Sunday.

LONDON (AP) – Serena Williams says she thinks it isn’t fair that she has been drug-tested more than other American tennis players this year. Williams said at a pre-tournament news conference at Wimbledon: “Just test everyone equally.” She was asked about the issue on Sunday because of a recent Deadspin story that said Williams had been checked five times in 2018 by last month, more than other U.S. women and men in the sport. Williams said she found it “a little frustrating” that she was deemed to have missed a test last month when a sample collector showed up at her house about 12 hours earlier than the time she had indicated she’d be available.

JOLIET, Ill. (AP) – Paul Menard will start from the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway. Menard turned a lap at 180.012 mph to edge Ryan Blaney. Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin and Kurt Busch rounded out the top five in Saturday’s qualifying. It’s the second career pole for Menard, who has just one top-five finish this season.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – St. Louis Blues goalie Carter Hutton is expected to sign with the Buffalo Sabres once the NHL’s free-agency period opens Sunday, according to a person with direct knowledge of the discussions. The person tells The Associated Press that the two sides are close to having the framework of a deal in place after Hutton visited Buffalo this week.
