Reynolds And Gregg Address Dubuque Chamber

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg addressed members of the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as city, county and education leaders as part of their “Condition of the State Tour” at the Hotel Julien today. The Governor reiterated some of the points she made in her “Condition of the State” address earlier this week, like making education one of her top priorities this year. The Governor is proposing to spend 54 million on education this year. She says while she applauds the tax reform package passed at the federal level, an outdated provision in the state’s tax code means that Iowans will see an increase in their taxes if state lawmakers don’t pass a tax reform package. Reynolds acknowledges that the state’s private Medicaid program is not working exactly the way they hoped it would. Lt. Governor Adam Gregg says the Governor is leading the state in the right direction, and the numbers prove it. Gregg has been appointed by the Governor to lead the new Rural Iowa Initiative. Also in attendance was Congressman Rod Blum, who updated the group on what’s happening on the federal level.
