Possible Signal Jochum Being Considered as Hubbell’s Running Mate


It’s speculative at best, but there appears to be a signal that Dubuque State Senator Pam Jochum is at least being considered as a possible running mate in Iowa’s upcoming race for governor. Last week, Des Moines businessman Fred Hubbell won Iowa Democrat’s nomination to oppose incumbent Governor Kim Reynolds. Hubbell is expected to announce his pick for Lieutenant Governor at the party’s state convention on Saturday. But liberal-leaning blog Iowa Starting Line has uncovered some website names that may signal who Hubbell is considering. Sites featuring Hubbell’s name along the name of several potential running mates have been reserved. One of those sites is By that measure, Jochum is one of seven possible running mates being considered, along with fellow State Senators Liz Mathis of Cedar Rapids and Rita Hart of Wheatland, and state teachers union executive Tammy Wawro.
