Police: Suspect Goes Off Road Trying to Elude Officers

A Dubuque man who went off road in his attempt to run from police is facing a handful of charges. 26-year-old Blake Amling was arrested near Dubuque’s Lowe’s store a few minutes after 12:30 Sunday morning. According to police, officers first began tracking Amling about a half hour earlier when he was seen speeding on Dodge Street near its intersection with Devon Drive. Police say that Amling raced away from them westbound on Dodge, eventually reaching a speed of 95 miles per hour. Amling turned into Wal-Mart parking area, but came back out near the intersection of Dodge and the Northwest Arterial. That’s where he crossed into a grassy area between the highway and nearby businesses. Amling eventually turned back toward Lowe’s, parked his car, and was arrested after trying to run from officers. Amling’s been charged with a 2nd offense of Operating While Intoxicated, Eluding, and two counts of Interference with Official Acts.
