New Charges Filed Against Man Who Jumped from Julien Dubuque Bridge

Some additional charges have been filed against an Asbury man who jumped from the Julien Dubuque Bridge last month. On May 11, Asbury Police say 47-year-old Carl Klaeska led authorities on a high-speed chase while intoxicated. He’s accused of speeding into oncoming traffic on Dodge Street, blowing through several stop sticks, and eventually stopping his car on the Julien Dubuque Bridge, where he jumped into the water. Dubuque firefighters were able to rescue him from a buoy. At the time, Klaeska was arrested on a charge of Eluding. Court records filed this week have elevated that charge to a felony. In addition, Klaeska’s also been charged with Operating While Intoxicated and two counts of 2nd Degree Harassment.
