McDonald’s Worker Accused of Theft Arrested Nearly 8 Months Later

A Dubuque woman has been arrested nearly eight months after initially being accused of stealing money from her job at a fast food restaurant. Police in Maquoketa apprehended 29-year-old Kayla Porter on Monday. She made an initial appearance in Dubuque County District Court Tuesday morning on a charge of 2nd Degree Theft. According to court documents, managers at the McDonald’s in Key West started noticing suspicious refunds during Porter’s shifts in April. Managers believed Porter was ringing up incorrect orders that were never placed, then pocketing the refunded money. Registers where she had been stationed reportedly showed a discrepancy of more than 35-hundred dollars during the months of February and March. When confronted about the missing money in April, Porter apparently submitted a written confession. Porter’s next court date has not been set.
