Connolly Pleads Not Guilty

A Holy Cross man, accused in the vehicular homicide deaths of four teenagers in August has submitted a written plea of not guilty to the charges against him. The plea, according to court officials was submitted last Friday by 24-year old Joseph Connolly. Connolly has also demanded a speedy trial. Connolly is accused of running a stop sign in rural Dubuque County on August 2nd and causing an accident that took the lives of Bryce Wilwert, Nicholas Kramer, Sean Kenneally and Mitchell Kluesner. The boys were riding a utility vehicle, when Connolly allegedly failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Hartbecke and East Pleasant Grove Road. Connolly is charged with 4 counts of vehicular homicide by OWI, one count of serious injury by OWI, 4 counts of vehicular homicide by reckless driving, one count of serious injury by reckless driving and failure to stop for a stop sign. Connolly remains in the Dubuque County Jail under a 500-thousand dollar cash-only bond. At a hearing last week, his attorney, Mark Roeder asked Judge Todd Geer to reduce Connolly's current bond to 50-thousand dollars, however a ruling has not been issued on the request, yet.
