Dyersville Council Approves Raise for Mayor, Denies Council Member Pay Increase

Dyersville’s next mayor will receive a pay bump, though members of the city council balked at raises for their own positions. The Dyersville council last night voted 5-0 to increase the mayor’s annual salary to $8,000 per year. That’s up from the $5,200 the mayor currently earns each year…a nearly 54% increase. The change will take effect on January 1, 2020, when the winner of next year’s mayoral election takes office. A separate item on the council’s agenda called for boosting council member pay to $50 for each meeting attended. But that proposal failed for lack of a second. Council members currently earn $40 for each meeting they’re present for.
