Dubuque Woman Arrested On Felony Charge

A Dubuque woman faces a felony charge after police say she smashed a mirror against the face of another woman and cut the woman’s face with a piece of the broken glass. Court documents say 54 year old Serena Baker was arrested today (Wednesday) at her residence in the 25-hundred block of Stafford Street. Baker is charged with willful injury causing bodily injury, which is a Class D felony. On September 3rd, police, responding to a reported assault, met with 27 year old Artemese Lloyd at Finley Hospital. Lloyd was being treated for several cuts to her face. She told officers that she was at the home of 31 year old Angela Baker in the 10-hundred block of University Avenue earlier, when the two of them began arguing and then fighting. Serena Baker, Angela’s mother was also present and picked up a mirror and struck Lloyd in the face, shattering the mirror. Serena Baker then picked up a shard and slashed Lloyd in the face. One of Lloyd’s cuts required 16 stitches. Baker told officers that Lloyd started a fight with her daughter and then attacked her. She says she did not strike Lloyd with a mirror.
