Dubuque Hosts City Expo Thursday

Dubuque residents will have a chance to get information on more than fifty city departments in one location Thursday afternoon. The city will once again host a “City Expo” beginning at 4:00 PM at the Five Flags Center. Public Information Officer Randy Gehl tells us the idea behind the event is to have representatives from all city departments available and accessible to citizens. Gehl says the city uses the Expo to take a two-pronged approach to getting information out. Not only will city staff have details they’re looking to share with residents, but they’re also able to answer questions citizens might have. In addition to booths staffed by all city departments, several stage presentations will highlight things like the Housing Choice Voucher Program, the police department’s new body-worn cameras, and proper CPR technique. The Expo runs until 7:00. Gehl says the timeframe was chosen to make the event available for citizens’ varying schedules. This is the first time the city has hosted its Expo since 2013. At least a thousand people have typically attended the event in the past.
