Frito Chili Burgers (5/2/2014)

Frito Chili Burger

2 ½ lbs. ground beef
2-3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 10 ¼ oz. bag Chili-Cheese Frito's corn chips
1 packet chili seasoning mix
8 hamburger buns, toasted
Bottle of chili sauce
1 medium onion, sliced thin (optional)

In a large bowl, add ground beef, ½ cup chili sauce, and packet of chili seasoning mix. Combine. Do not over-mix. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 6 hours. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before grilling, allowing meat to come to room temperature. When you are ready to grill, preheat grill to medium high heat. Form ground beef into 8 patties. Grill burgers approximately 6-7 minutes per side. During last 2 minutes of cooking, top each burger with a handful of Chili-Cheese Frito's and top with some shredded cheddar cheese. Cover grill lid and grill, allow burgers to cook until the cheese has begun to melt. After you've toasted your ground beef burger buns, coat both sections of bun with some chili sauce, sandwich the burger between the bun, adding sliced onion if desired.
