Italian Tailgate Sandwiches (8/30/2013)

Italian Tailgate Sandwiches


Meat Patties:
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. Italian Hot sausage
½ cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon fennel seed
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 egg, beaten
Salt & Pepper to taste


Sauce:
1 27 ½ oz. jar or can of spaghetti sauce
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 can diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon garlic powder


Sandwich needs:
Buns
Mozzarella or Provolone cheese slices


In a large bowl, combine meat mixture and seasonings. Shape into 10-12 thin patties and brown in a skillet until browned on both sides.


Add sauce ingredients to a large crock pot. Add browned patties and cook on low 4-5 hours. Serve patties on buns with mozzarella or provolone cheese slices.
