Turkey Sausage Chili (10/19/2012)

Turkey Sausage Chili
2 lbs. Cremer's Hot Italian Turkey Sausage or ground turkey
1 large onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 (15.5 oz.) cans chili beans, undrained
2 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
1 ½ cup beef broth or stock
1 cup chicken broth or stock
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
3 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper
Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

In a large soup pot, cook turkey, onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain off half the fat. Add remaining ingredients.

Bring to boil; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

This can also be made in the crock pot. Simply brown the turkey, onion and garlic, then transfer to a 5-quart crock pot and add the remaining ingredients. Cover, and cook on low 7-8 hours.

(makes 12-14 servings)
