Upside-down Pizza Casserole (8/3/2012)

Upside-Down Pizza Casserole

1 lb. Italian Sausage (hot or mild)
1 lb. Ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 4 oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 15 oz. jar spaghetti sauce
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 green pepper, seeded and chopped
1 small can tomato paste
1 8 oz. container sour cream
1 tube refrigerated Crescent Rolls
¼ cup melted margarine

In a large skillet, cook sausage, ground beef, and chopped onion and drain off excess fat. Stir in spaghetti sauce, mushroom, chopped tomato, pepper, and tomato paste. Simmer 30 minutes. Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray, then add meat mixture to bottom of dish. Top with spoonfuls of sour cream. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover with rolled out crescent rolls. Bake at 400-degrees about 20-30 minutes, or until top is golden.
