Pizza Burgers (8/26/2011)

Pizza Burgers


2 lbs. Ground beef
1 lb. Italian Sausage
15-20 pepperoni or Canadian bacon slices-chopped
1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup onion, minced
2 tsp. Italian seasoning
salt & pepper to taste
8 slices provolone cheese
1 (14.5 oz.) can diced tomatoes
romaine or iceberg lettuce
4 crusty rolls-sliced
more pizza sauce or marinara for condiment


In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, pepperoni, pizza sauce or marinara, Italian seasoning, garlic and onions. Mix well. Place in refrigerator for 3-4 hours. Divide into 4 equal parts and form burgers. Salt & pepper to taste. Fry burgers in a large skillet until cooked through, about 8-10 minutes per side, or you grill them. Place a slice of cheese on each right before they finish cooking. Allow cheese to melt completely over the burger. Combine remaining pizza sauce with diced tomatoes in blender and blend for a few seconds and then spread some sauce mixture on each bun. Place a burger on top with lettuce and tomato.


Serves 8.
