Blue Cheese Burgers II (5/20/2011)

Blue Cheese Burgers

3 lbs. Ground beef
6-8 oz. blue cheese, crumbled (recommended Mindora Blue from Swiss Valley)
¼ tsp. hot pepper sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
3 cloves minced garlic
2 tsp. Cremer's Rub me Tender or use Montreal Steak Seasoning
¾ tsp. Cayenne pepper (only use if using Cremer's Rub)
1 tsp. dry mustard
12 hamburger buns
1 bottle blue cheese salad dressing
1 can French's fried onions, warmed

In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, blue cheese, hot pepper sauce, Worcestershire, garlic, Cremer's Rub or Montreal seasoning and mustard together. Cover, refrigerate at least 2 hours. When ready to cook, preheat oven to 250-degrees. Spread fried onions on baking sheet and warm in oven 5-10 minutes. Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Form the burger mixture into 12 patties. Oil the grill. Grill patties about 5 minutes per sided, or until well done. Serve on hamburger buns and top with a small amount of blue cheese dressing , then top with some French's fried onions. You can also add some lettuce and a slice of tomato if you'd like.

This recipe is featured on page 33 of the "Cookin' with Kaye" cookbook. Enjoy! This recipe was origianlly give back in April 2007. I made a few changes, using products available at Cremer's.  And, we've lower the price of the "Cookin' with Kaye" cookbook.  Just $10 a copy now, available at KDTH.

This week's recommended wine from Van's Liquor Store in East Dubuque-Columbia Crest Grand Estates Chardonnay, 750ml bottle, $7.99.
