Cola Burgers (5/28/2010)

Cola Burgers

2 eggs, beaten
1 cup cola
1 cup crushed saltine crackers
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
¾ cup French Salad dressing
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
3 lbs. ground beef
12 slices cheese, Swiss, cheddar, provolone, Monterey cheese, etc.
2 tomatoes, sliced
Lettuce
12 Hamburger buns

In a medium bowl, mix together eggs, ground beef, ½ cup cola, crackers, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, 1/4 cup French salad dressing, and Parmesan cheese. Mix gently. Cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
Pour remaining cola and salad dressing into a separate bowl, and mix well (refrigerate until ready to grill.)

When ready to grill, form meat into 12 patties.

Oil grill grate. Heat grill to medium. Grill burgers 5-6 minutes per side. Baste with salad dressing mixture every 2 minutes. In the last couple of minutes, top with cheese slices. Serve with sliced tomatoes and lettuce.

Jeff Jansen's Sangria Recipe:

3 cups Chianti or other fruity red wine
1 cup Brandy
¼ cup Orange flavored Liqueur (triple sec)
1 orange, sliced
1 lime, sliced, optional
1 lemon, sliced, optional
1 apple, cored anddiced
8 fresh raspberries
2 cups club soda, chilled

In a large pitcher, combine all ingredients, except club soda. Cover tightly and refrigerate 3 hours to let flavors meld. Pour ¾ cup sangria mixture into each of 8 wine glasses, dividing fruit equally. Top each glass with ¼ cup club soda. Serve immediately.
