Easy Slow cooker Beef short Ribs

1 14.5 oz. can Stewed or diced tomatoes
¾ cup ketchup
¼ cup soy sauce
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
4 tablespoons cider vinegar
4 tablespoons light or dark brown sugar
1 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
4-5 pounds beef short ribs
1 medium yellow onion, cut into rings


Place short ribs on a broiler pan and broil until well browned. Arrange ribs in a 5-6 quart slow cooker.

In a large bowl, mix together tomatoes, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Pour over ribs. Top with onion slices. Cover and cook on LOW 7-8 hours.

Hint: Make these ahead of time, and, when finished cooking, place in refrigerator overnight. Skim off fat and reheat. Serve with rice, egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
