Four Meat Stromboli sandwich (1/23/2009)

Four Meat Stromboli Sandwich

1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed, or 1 tube refrigerated French bread dough.
1 jar marinara sauce or spaghetti sauce (any variety)
1 medium red onion, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 tsp. Oregano
1 tsp. minced garlic
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
8 slices turkey
8 slices salami
8-10 slices sandwich pepperoni
8 slices cooked ham
8 slices provolone cheese
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash topping)

Thaw bread dough on a greased cookie sheet. (If using refrigerated tube of bread dough, simply open and spread out on a large, greased cookie sheet). On ½ of dough, spread some of the spaghetti sauce and layer half the ingredients. Repeat. Top with more spaghetti sauce. Fold over ½ of dough. Pinch seams to seal. Brush top with beaten egg. Make a few diagonal slits in top of bread. Bake at 350-degrees for 30-35 minutes. Allow to rest 5 minutes and slice and serve. Serve with a side of warmed marinara sauce for dipping.
