Pizza Burgers (2/29/2008)

Pizza Burgers

1 lb. Ground beef
½ lb. Ground Italian Sausage
15-20 pepperoni slices-chopped
¼ cup pizza sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
¼ cup onion, minced
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
salt & pepper to taste
4 slices provolone cheese
½ (14.5 oz.) can diced tomatoes
romaine or iceberg lettuce
4 crusty rolls-sliced
more pizza sauce for condiment

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, pepperoni, pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic and onions. Mix well. Place in refrigerator for 3-4 hours. Divide into 4 equal parts and form burgers. Salt & pepper to taste. Fry burgers in a large skillet until cooked through, about 8-10 minutes per side, or grill them. Place a slice of cheese on each right before they finish cooking. Allow cheese to melt completely over the burger. Combine remaining pizza sauce with diced tomatoes in blender and blend for a few seconds and then spread some sauce mixture on each bun. Place a burger on top with lettuce and tomato.
