Connors Endorses James For State House

A member of Dubuque’s City Council has thrown her support behind one of the candidates seeking to represent part of the city in the Iowa Legislature. 3rd Ward City Council representative Joyce Connors has endorsed Lindsay James in her bid to represent the 99th Iowa House district, which includes the southern and western portions of Dubuque. In a statement, Connors says “James has proven herself as an activist who will stand up for what is right.” James announced her candidacy earlier this month. She’s a pastor at the Westminster Presbyterian Church and also directs the Peace and Justice Institute at Loras College. She’s one of two Democrats who have already announced they’ll seek the 99th District seat, along with fellow Loras professor Brad Cavanaugh. The 99th District is currently represented by Democrat Abby Finkenauer, who is giving up the seat to run for Congress.
