Cavs storm past Pacers…Spurs fall, Bucks win…Pens, Preds advance…Sabres clean house

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The Cleveland Cavaliers have engineered the greatest halftime comeback in an NBA playoff game victory to take a three-games-to-one lead in the first round. The Cavs trailed by 25 at the break before holding the Pacers to 40 points in the second half of a 119-114 win at Indiana. LeBron James scored 13 of his game-high 41 points in the third quarter and finished with 13 rebounds and 12 assists.

UNDATED (AP) – The San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks own 2-1 leads in the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Grizzlies avoided an 0-3 hole as Mike Conley scored 24 points and had eight assists a 105-94 victory against the visiting Spurs. Khris Middleton dropped in 20 points and All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 19 and eight boards in the Bucks’ 104-77 trouncing of Toronto.

UNDATED (AP) – The Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators have advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Bryan Rust scored twice and Marc-Andre Fleury handled 49 shots as the Penguins ousted Columbus, 5-2 in Game 5. The Predators got a pair of goals from Roman Josi ┬áin beating the Blackhawks, 4-1 and completing a surprising four-game sweep of the top seed in the Western Conference.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – The Buffalo Sabres have fired general manager Tim Murray and head coach Dan Bylsma ( amid questions over player accountability as the team missed the Stanley Cup playoffs for a sixth straight year. Owner Terry Pegula reached the decision after spending the past two days holding season-ending meetings with Murray, and some 10 days after Buffalo closed its season by finishing last in the Atlantic Division. Murray was at his post for three seasons, while Bylsma had a two-year run with the club.

UNDATED (AP) – Tiger Woods will go another year without playing in a major after undergoing a fourth back surgery yesterday to alleviate pain. The announcement on his website Thursday said typical recovery from a single-level fusion surgery is six months. He went 15 months without competition before making a brief return in December and January.
