Burglary Suspect: “Voices in Head” Told Him to Take Neighbor’s Guns

A Dubuque man claims that “voices in his head” told him to take three guns from a neighbor’s home. 34-year-old Jesse Dolan was arrested on a 3rd Degree Burglary charge a few minutes after 7:00 Sunday evening. Police had been called to a home in the 2700 block of University Avenue, where a resident had returned home to find Dolan exiting his garage with several items in his hands. The resident confronted Dolan while police responded to the scene. While speaking with officers, Dolan reportedly said that the voices in his head told him someone inside the home was injured. He got into the house through an unlocked door, but didn’t find anyone inside. That’s when the voices told him to remove all the guns from the home and give them to a police commander. Among the items Dolan was carrying were two handguns and an AR-15 rifle owned by the resident. The resident told police he didn’t know Dolan and had not given him permission to enter the house.
