Blum “Proud” to Lead Congress in Spending on Communications

Blum

Dubuque’s representative in Congress says he’s proud to have spent more than any other representative communicating with his constituents. Expense records for the 115th Congress show that Dubuque Republican Rod Blum spent 400-thousand dollars on mass mailings sent to his district from January of last year through the end of this March. That’s more than any of the other members of Congress. The communications include unsolicited mailings, calls, and emails distributed to 500 people or more. Blum’s three colleagues in the Iowa delegation combined to spend less than 20-thousand dollars on such communications during that time period. Asked for comment, Blum recently wrote on Twitter that he’s proud of that ranking. He says he’s also saved the most money in his office’s budget. Blum is seeking his 3rd term in Congress this fall. He’ll face Dubuque state lawmaker Abby Finkenauer in November.
